We choose a single micro-lot each season. You reserve your share before we roast. It arrives fresh, with its grower’s name and the story of the place it came from.

Our first chapter begins with Impano, meaning “gift”, from Gasharu Coffee in Nyamasheke, Rwanda’s Western Province. This Bourbon micro-lot is fermented anaerobically for around 100 hours, with citrus and pineapple notes and a syrupy body.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND IMPANO

Gasharu Coffee.
Nyamasheke, Rwanda.

Gasharu washing station works with a network of 1,650 farmers in Rwanda’s Western Province. Farms sit at 1,600–2,100 metres above sea level.

Impano is a gift in name and intention. Gasharu describes the coffee as a way to connect the people who drink it with the community who produce it.

The station supports farmers in organising cooperatives and developing skills in governance and finance. Its manager is Valentin Kimenyi.

What does “en primeur” mean?

It means buying something before it is finished, a tradition associated with fine wine. At SOLARA, you pay to reserve a specific coffee before it is roasted. Your reservation helps fund the lot, and we roast what’s spoken for. Joining the notification list is free.

When do I pay?

Joining the Reserve List is free. When coffee reservations open, payment is taken at checkout to secure your allocation, before roasting and dispatch.

Why reserve coffee in advance?

Each release comes from a finite harvest. Reserving secures your share and lets us buy and roast to order, rather than hold roasted coffee waiting for a buyer.

Is the Reserve List a monthly subscription?

No. The Reserve List gives you first access to Lot 001. Signing up is free and does not place an order, start a subscription or guarantee an allocation. You decide whether to buy when reservations open.

When will Lot 001 be ready?

Lot 001 is Impano, an anaerobically fermented Bourbon from Gasharu Coffee in Rwanda. Green-coffee availability is expected from January 2027. Transport, roasting and packing follow, so this is not a customer delivery date. We’ll confirm the reservation window, final price and expected dispatch date before checkout opens.

What if a release doesn’t reach its minimum?

If a release does not reach its published minimum, it does not proceed and your reservation payment is refunded in full. The threshold, deadline and refund timing will be shown before checkout opens.
